After shape and core, the material of the frame and face is the specification that most changes how a racket transmits a shot. Two families cover nearly everything.
Fibreglass
Flexes more than carbon. The face gives a little on contact, which softens the shot and widens the margin for a contact that is not clean. It is the usual choice at entry level for exactly that reason, and it is generally the cheaper of the two to build.
Carbon
Stiffer. Less of the swing is absorbed by the frame, so more of it reaches the ball. The same stiffness that returns the shot also returns more of the feedback, which is why carbon frames are usually described as more precise and less forgiving at once.
The weave number
Carbon is often published with a number: 3K, 12K, 18K, 24K. It counts the filaments in each tow of the weave, and a coarser weave behaves differently from a fine one. As a rough reading, 3K is the coarser and softer of the common weaves and the higher numbers are stiffer, but makers combine layers and the published number describes the surface rather than the whole frame.
Face and frame can differ
Some rackets pair a carbon face with a different frame construction, or the reverse. Where a manufacturer publishes them separately, this catalogue records what it published. Where a maker gives one value for both, one value is what appears.
Material is not a quality ranking
Carbon is not better than fibreglass; it is stiffer. Which one suits depends on the swing holding the handle. A stiff frame given a slow swing returns less than a flexible one, and a flexible frame given a fast swing loses shape where a stiff one would hold it.
How each ages
Both materials fail rather than wear. A fibreglass frame that has taken repeated hard contact tends to soften gradually as the layup loosens, and the change is slow enough that owners often do not notice until they hold a new one. Carbon holds its stiffness longer and then cracks, usually from an impact rather than from age.
Neither is a fault. They are different failure modes, and the practical consequence is that a carbon frame is more worth protecting at the edge, where a single contact with the wall does the damage.
Cost follows construction
Carbon layups cost more to build, and higher weave counts and hybrid constructions cost more again. That is most of why frame material tracks price so closely across a catalogue. It is a fact about manufacturing, not a ranking: a fibreglass frame is not a compromised carbon one, it is a different tool.
Reading the face and the frame apart
The face is the surface the ball meets; the frame is the structure around and behind it. A racket can pair a fibreglass face with a carbon frame or the reverse, and each combination behaves differently. Where a maker publishes both, both are recorded here, and where it publishes one figure for the whole racket, that is what appears.
